Apartment Bliss

With college move-in season upon us I can't help but drool at all of the beautiful rooms and decor I see all over the blogosphere and of course, Pinterest.  I absolutely love decorating. Every single time one of my closest friends from home, Heidi, and I would get together when we were younger we would rearrange my bedroom. We would lock ourselves in my room for hours moving and deciding what looked best where until we got it exactly right and now, ten years later, I still love it!

Current inspiration- simple elegance

It amazes me how much my tastes can change from year to year. My family has done it's share of moving (same area- different homes) in my life and every move produced a different decor scheme. One bedroom I was obsessed with bright pink and green, the next I was all about purple, and the next I couldn't get enough plain white with pops of blue. My freshman year of college I bought an lilac and teal Urban Outfitters duvet cover (see photo below) that I still love, but after two consistent years of use I am ready for a change!

Freshman year dorm (ignore the weird coloring)
Sophomore year apartment

When I was in my pink and green phase years ago I bought this Lilly Pulitzer bedding (see photo below). I haven't used it in years but I decided this year I am going to bring it back! It's great because the flip side is plain pink so if I get tired of the pattern I can just turn it over and have a whole new feel! Plus it's Lilly and just makes me happy to look at!

Not my actual room but I have the same bedding!

With the comforter being pretty busy I plan to keep the rest of my decor simplfied by using white accessories and pretty vases. I can't wait to see how it all comes together after I move in on Friday! I will definitely be posting pictures so be on the lookout! Do y'all love decorating just as much as I do? What do you think about my bedding?

Let me know what you think!

London Calling

With the Olympics basically taking over all forms of social media along with television it's no wonder that it is all anyone can talk about! The amazing dedication and talent of all of these athletes continues to blow me away event after event! I may or may not be completely obsessed with Gabby Douglas... I mean come on! She is so precious! While watching the hours and hours of Olympic coverage I can't help but get wistful seeing all of the lovely shots of London they keep showing. This inspired me to post about my own trip to London I took this past May while studying abroad in Europe!

Olympic Rings in the Train Station!
I have never left the US, besides a family trip to the Bahamas when I was younger, so studying abroad for a month with a group of people I didn't know beforehand was pretty nerve-wracking but I am SO glad I did! During our stay we visited six countries- Belgium, the United Kingdom, Spain, The Netherlands, France, and Italy. Each amazing in their own way. We were based out of Belgium but the first place we unanimously decided to venture out of our host country to was the UK, and more specifically, London!

So London
Mind the gap!
Our stay in London lasted only a weekend and was, in my opinion, much too short! I would love to go back again sometime! The British have such tradition and dignity in all aspects of life that it is hard for me not to adore them completely. The Union Jack Flag is found all over London and the ever-present bright red will always remind me of my visit!

The mean Reds

Whether in a timeless dress, bright jeans or classic wellies you can't go wrong! This traditional red just screams London and until I can go back across the pond adding a pop of this great color to my wardrobe will have to do! Have y'all been to London? Let me know what you think about this great city and it's favorite color below!

Style Crush: Reese Witherspoon

Show me one person who dislikes Reese Witherspoon and I'll show you a liar. Seriously, there is no way someone could dislike this girl! She is gorgeous, makes great movies and has a wonderful preppy and classic style to boot!

Simple colors and clean lines

Breton Stripes and pointy flats

Layers done right

Love the gingham!
I plan to make this a weekly series here on the blog! I already have so many people I want to write about that I can't wait to share! Am I the only one obsessed with Reese? Most celebs don't have the best or most classic personal style but she manages to keep her look away from crazy trends that seem to envelop Hollywood these days. Let me know what you think about this series or if you have anyone you would like me to post about!

Happy Monday!

Looks For Less: Desert Boots

With most stores already putting their fall lines on the shelves it's getting harder and harder for me to accept that it is still around 95 degrees outside. Boots are a key part of fall and winter style and this season I am all about the desert boot. I love the classic Clark's and their effortlessly cool vibe and this season's take on the minimalist shoe with the addition of a small heel has me drooling!

Desert Boot Love
Isn't it crazy how similar the Tory and Target ones are??
I'm not going to lie, this photo of one of my all time favorite bloggers, Mackenzie Horan of Design Darling, made me fall in love with these boots and I am so obsessed with how she styled them! (see photo below!)

Skinnys, a belted puffer vest, breton stripes and pearls? Pure perfection!! If y'all don't read her blog you should really go check it out, her style in impeccable! How do y'all feel about the new take on desert boots? I am thinking about splurging on the J. Crew ones this weekend but can't decide! Do y'all think I should get them??

Let me know! :)
