How To Wear: Full Skirts

Some trends come and go sooner than you can flip through your favorite magazine. Usually I try to stay away from "trendy" items because they tend to be a bit out-there for my classic taste. However, this season I am loving a certain silhouette that is popping up everywhere I look: The Full Skirt.

Then:

Now:

how perfect is this?? sigh.
I used to absolutely hate pleats. I remember being so embarrassed because my mom made me wear a pair of pleated pants in grade school. However, the exaggerated pleats we are seeing this season have caught my eye in the best way. This seasons take on the full skirt is a bit shorter but every bit as quirky and polished as the vintage version. I love how it can make such a statement by itself and looks so chic paired with a simple white tee and minimal jewelry. Of course you can glam it up as well, which makes it so versatile! I am itching to get my hands on one of these beauties:
Full Skirt Fancy

Aren't they just to die for?? Have y'all jumped on the full pleated skirt bandwagon yet? How would you style it? Can't wait to hear your ideas!

Happy Saturday!

How to Wear: Moccasins

Let me start by saying I have never been a huge fan of moccasins. Of course I've always seen them sold in stores and thought they looked cute on other people but they were just a bit too themed for me. I always felt like I was wearing a costume when I tried them on. Fast forward to yesterday- while shopping with my Mom and Brother I randomly decided to pop in Old Navy to see if I could find anything. I wandered around but nothing really caught my eye until I saw these babies in the shoe section:

The Old Navy Bow Tie Moccasin. They only had one pair left and they just happened to be my size! I tried them on on a whim and oh my gosh. They are easily one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever tried on! They fit just right and had the cutest detailing without being over the top. My favorite detail is the on the back:

So obsessed with the purple beads! Purple just happens to be one of my favorite colors and also one of my college's colors! The best part? They were on super sale and only $15! How could I pass that up?! I can't wait to pair them with leggings and my patagonia for lazy days and with jeans and sweaters for class!

Moccasins

What do y'all think about moccasins? Do you like them or think they are too over the top for everyday wear? Can't wait to hear what you think!

Have an amazing Monday!

What I Wore

I am spending the first weekend away from Clemson this semester in Boone North Carolina with my family. My younger brother is touring Appalachian State and we are staying at a gorgeous mountain house, it's been wonderful so far! I am absolutely in love with the weather here and am so excited to be able to finally wear some of my fall clothes! I thought I would share the outfit I wore today and a few other random updates sprinkled in!

Vest & Boots: J. Crew // Jeans: AE // Shirt: Forever 21
And here's a couple of my latest purchases that I'm so in love with! I cannot wait to pair my boots with endless combinations of jeans, skirts and dresses and am totally obsessed with the colors of this Patagonia! Even though it's a men's I love how warm and snuggly it is and how it 's much more loose fitting than the women's pull over. Yay for shopping!

Delia's Pepper Boot

Patagonia Synchilla Snap-T Pullover
Hope y'all are having a great Friday and have a wonderful weekend! Let me know what you think of my outfit and if you would like for me to do more personal style posts! :)

PS- tomorrow is the first official day of fall and my two month blog anniversary! Yippee! Happy weekend loves!

Recent Fashion Finds

I haven't online shopped in at least a month, which is really good for me! It seems I get a million emails every day from different stores with their latest promotion. Usually, I just delete them immediately without opening them but for some reason last night (while procrastinating on a paper) I went to Gap's website after getting a 30% off coupon via email. Not surprisingly a few things caught my eye and I just couldn't turn down a good deal right?

I've been on the hunt for a long sleeved blue and white striped shirt for a while. This one is perfect to wear with jeans or a skirt and can be layered with a scarf or cute jacket! Score!

Obviously I am obsessed with navy but oddly enough I didn't have a navy sweater! This is a great alternative to the the J. Crew Jackie sweater and I can't wait to wear it over a button up with my ankle wedge booties!

I have wanted a silky white blouse for almost a year but haven't found one in my budget that I like enough to purchase. I stumbled upon this blouse on Old Navy's website and really liked it! I love that it's a pop-over and able to be long or three quarter length sleeved! I plan on pairing it with dark skinny jeans and heels for a girls night out!

What are some of your favorite fall fashion finds? Have you gotten any great deals lately? Can't wait to hear what you think of these picks!

Happy Thursday!

Trench Coat Style

The Trench Coat. One of those all-time, gotta have it, always in style, completely classic and chic clothing items.  Some of my favorite old movies, like Miracle on 34th Street and Breakfast at Tiffany's (see photos below), feature both types of trench I love, one for rainy weather and one for cold weather!

Camel trench, a silk scarf and beautiful hat? Swoon. With cooler temps upon us I am definitely obsessing over the thicker wool style trench coats. I have tried my best to stay away from J. Crew's website since I basically spent everything I made this summer there (don't want to talk about it..) but today I decided to go take a look and I immediately feel in love with this beauty...

I mean, come on! The deep color, the structure, the details, the belt? Ah, I am falling head over heels. The Icon also comes in classic camel and rich navy, but my heart is melting over this unexpected yet completely perfect burgundy. I generally dislike this color because I had to wear it as a school uniform for years and years, but this coat is making me change my mind.

I love the thought of updating a classic silhouette with a color that is very popular this season. What do y'all think about trench coats? Do you have one already or are you looking to purchase one like me? Let me know what you think!

White After Labor Day

If you're like me you've heard this "rule" pretty much your entire life. After Labor Day you put your white and seersucker away until Easter Sunday. That's just how it is here in the South (and everywhere else too I'm assuming?). But lately, especially on Twitter and the Blogosphere, I have seen many people proudly breaking this rule, calling it outdated and silly. Personally I follow the no white rule, however I don't have white shoes or pants anyway so it may be easier for me, but I digress.

Come on TSwift...
Then there is the issue of "Winter White". Where does this fit into the no white rule? The difference in "Winter White" and "Summer White" to me would be different shades of the same essential color. Winter Whites are much more cream based than stark Summer Whites. My favorite Southern Blogger, Rules For Belles, is very specific about this difference and is one of the main champions for the no white rule that I know.

In honor of this hot button topic I thought I would share some good "Winter White" options to hold us over until next April :)

I am obsessed with these creamy ensembles! What are y'alls' thoughts on the no white rule? Do you follow it religiously or rebel against it? I can't wait to hear what you think!
