Summer Concert Wear

There are so many amazing concerts happening around the south in cities like Atlanta, Charlotte and Charleston this summer! I am too excited all these amazing artists are coming to our corner of the world to preform! With everything from Kenny Chesney to Lil Wayne, Dave Mathews Band to Justin Bieber or Jimmy Buffett and The Lumineers, there is truly a concert for every taste young and old! Summer concerts, especially ones held outdoors, are so quentisentially American and I can't wait to attend as many as I can! Here's some different options based on the different types of concerts you may be attending this summer!

Acoustic/Folk Concert

To me this type of concert requires a minimal, laid back look. I would 100% wear both of these outfits to an outdoor concert! Can't you just imagine wearing this on a warm summer night while listening to chill music? Sigh, take me there!

Folk Concert

Hip Hop Concert

It's one of my (random) bucket list items to go to a Lil Wayne concert. I just feel like it would be such a fun and crazy experience. Hip hop concerts require a sassy outfit and I love the look of a silky crop top with a fuller skirt. The gold cuff and necklace add the right amount of edge while also being on trend, and I can't get over how beautiful those wedges are!

Pop Concert

Justin Bieber is coming to South Carolina in August and if I went I would so wear something like this. I feel like a pop concert requires a fun, bubbly outfit! The pink/white/navy combo is so adorable, and I obsessing over those Kate Spade wedges! Perfect outfit to dance around to fun music and enjoy yourself!

Pop Concert

Country Concert

I feel like this is the unofficial uniform of country concerts. To me a breezy sun dress, cowboy boots, and jean jacket just scream all-American girl. Add a straw bag and classic sunnies and you have a perfect country concert ensemble!

Which look is your favorite? Are you going to any concerts this summer? Let me know!

Fashion is dictated by the event you’re attending and also, how you are feeling. You should choose a wardrobe that will help propel you forward in your career and social sphere. With a little planning, you’ll be dressed for success no matter what!
Plan Your Look for Work
Are you the office fashion maven or an office fashion misfit? If you fall into the latter category, you will need some help planning your business casual look. Remember you can be business casual and dressed for success without losing your personality.
Try infusing your personality by selecting a pencil skirt with a polka dot blouse and blazer or substitute the trousers for the skirt if you need a more casual look. Some people may even choose a patterned shirt or for the daring, a metallic shirt, which could only be appropriate in some offices that are less conservative.
Don’t forget to add petite earrings and a gold or pearl pendant necklace to the ensemble! Eyeglasses from Warby Parker’s collection will ensure that you always remain fashionable.

Plan Your Look for a Daytime Excursion
If you’ll be running errands or going on a luncheon, you will probably want to tone down your look and select more casual separates. Casual items would include cropped fitted trousers, leggings, and denim. These bottoms can be paired with t-shirts with embellishments such as eyelet trim or peplums.
Empire-waist knit shirts are also a great choice. To dress up the look, complement the look with wide band bracelets or long pendant necklaces. For a daytime excursion, you will want a pair of sunglasses and fashionable and comfortable wedges or lace-up ankle boots.

Kate Young for Target

Target has been so on point with their special collections for the past few years. The Kate Young for Target line caught my eye during my last visit to the worlds most addicting store, and I had to stop myself from getting it all! Here's how Target described the line:

"Since her early days at Vogue, Kate Young has built a career as a renowned stylist for cover shoots, luxury brands and Hollywood stars. Inspired by the sparkle of diamonds, champagne and the midnight sky, Kate designs original, chic and covetable looks that are true show stoppers."

It's all just so fun and sassy with a bit of an art deco twist that I just adore. The best past is it's super affordable! Double win!  Here's some of my favorite pieces:

Have you checked out the line yet? What pieces are you dying to grab? Let me know!

Leather Totes

There comes a time in every girls life when you need the bag. You know the bag I'm talking about. The bag that makes you feel adult, that fits all your stuff and goes with every outfit. In my mind the bag is leather, has a classic shape, and is all kinds of chic. This spring I've seen so many leather carry-all bags that have completely caught my eye. They are so simple but just perfect . Like seriously, can I just be the fabulous girl in the first picture?!

Swoon. I think this will have to be my next "big girl" purchase. It's like a grown up Longchamp Le Pliage, am I right? Do y'all already have your own leather tote? Do you like the more structured bags or the softer, more slouchy versions? Let me know!!

Simple Sandals

Do y'all remember how big of a deal gladiator sandals were for the longest time?? Sigh, those were not my favorite days. They were too busy, intense, and hard edged. Just.. not my style. However, this spring I've done a happy dance because simple sandals are back with a vengeance! I just adore the clean, classic look of simple leather sandals. So much more ladylike than flashy studs and a million criss-crossing buckles.

Simple Sandals

The simple look is just as amazing in heel form as well! The beauty of this style is that they work with anything from skinny jeans to an evening gown. Their versatility is incomparable!

Essie Spring 2013

I must admit I fell into a bit of a nail polish slump over the winter. With my hands in gloves or stuffed into my pockets the motivation for cute tips was lost, and most of the time my nails went bare. But with the powerful resurgence of spring I have fallen right back in love with fun polish! Sidenote: Is it just me or do you just feel so much more put together when your nails are polished?? Anyway, of course when I saw Essie's Spring 2013 collection I wanted them all! And Essie's descriptions of the different shades on their website just added to my obsession. Go check it out, and you'll see what I mean!

I picked up the bright blue Avenue Maintain and wore it all spring break. It was the perfect vacation shade! My next purchase will either be the one of the purple shades or Madison Ave-hue! Which is your favorite shade?? Let me know!

What To Wear To A Spring Wedding

It's that time of the year again folks, wedding season. I'm headed back to the lowcountry this weekend to attend a wedding of a friend from home. It seems like every weekend from here until July there is a wedding or event! Spring and summer weddings can be tricky especially if they are outdoors, or in the South in general. The South may be beautiful but man oh man can it be hot and buggy at times. To combat the elements I usually opt for a cocktail length dress in a breezy fabric that will be comfortable in the heat. I love the idea of a flowy dress in a bright, solid color. So comfy, but also so chic, and the colors are perfectly on trend.

Spring Wedding

The perfect companion to a bright dress is a neutral shoe. Whether you plan on dancing the night away or simply attending the ceremony any of these would be the perfect compliment to a fun dress! I just love all three, particularly the strappy sandals. But that's another subject for another post ;)

Wedding Guest Shoes

And of course you can't forget jewelry! With a solid dress you could either go the simple route with pearls, or jazz it up with a colorful statement necklace! I love the shorter collar style versions that don't hang down too far.

Wedding Necklaces

Which combination (dresss+heels+neckalce) would you choose? Can't wait to hear your choices!

Lilac Love

The old adage "Pink is for girls, blue is for boys" has been around forever. But what falls in between? I have never been a super girly-girl nor a tom-boy. So what color best suits me? Over the past few years I discovered my love for purple. It's the perfect happy medium and is feminine without being as in your face as pink can be. My love of purple has become a full blown obsession. As you can see in this post my room is full of purple, from my bedding to my furniture! My old preference was darker shades of purple, but lately I have come to love lighter shades such as lilac.

Lilac is such a delicate shade of purple that reminds me of wisteria, one of my favorite wild flowers. Gorgeous, no?

Recently I became obsessed with the thought of lilac skinny crops. I took a shopping trip to Atlanta a few weekends ago and found the perfect pair at Gap. I am so excited to style them!!

I have been scouring Pinterest for inspiration and can't wait to try some of these lovely looks out!

They look adorable with anything from heels to sandals or sneakers and I know they will be my go to this spring!! What do you think about lilac? Love it or leave it? Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Top it Off

I've always loved hats. I think it's mainly because I have a big forehead and hats are helpful in camouflaging that. From baseball caps to panama hats to fedoras, spring is the perfect time to don this timeless accessory! I wish more ladies today wore hats like they did in the era of Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn.

Le sigh, so chic. This spring I've been noticing more and more fashionistas, bloggers, and celebrities stepping up their hat game. Panama hats, floppy sun hats, felt hats, baseball caps, fedoras, you name it; they're rocking them.

A huge trend in the college world is monogrammed hats- both baseball and floppy. I have a white monogrammed baseball hat that I love to wear to the beach and pool. Before spring break I got a straw fedora from Target and hardly took it off all vacation, I think it just finishes an outfit off in the best way!
