Recent Fashion Finds

I haven't online shopped in at least a month, which is really good for me! It seems I get a million emails every day from different stores with their latest promotion. Usually, I just delete them immediately without opening them but for some reason last night (while procrastinating on a paper) I went to Gap's website after getting a 30% off coupon via email. Not surprisingly a few things caught my eye and I just couldn't turn down a good deal right?

I've been on the hunt for a long sleeved blue and white striped shirt for a while. This one is perfect to wear with jeans or a skirt and can be layered with a scarf or cute jacket! Score!

Obviously I am obsessed with navy but oddly enough I didn't have a navy sweater! This is a great alternative to the the J. Crew Jackie sweater and I can't wait to wear it over a button up with my ankle wedge booties!

I have wanted a silky white blouse for almost a year but haven't found one in my budget that I like enough to purchase. I stumbled upon this blouse on Old Navy's website and really liked it! I love that it's a pop-over and able to be long or three quarter length sleeved! I plan on pairing it with dark skinny jeans and heels for a girls night out!

What are some of your favorite fall fashion finds? Have you gotten any great deals lately? Can't wait to hear what you think of these picks!

Happy Thursday!

Trench Coat Style

The Trench Coat. One of those all-time, gotta have it, always in style, completely classic and chic clothing items.  Some of my favorite old movies, like Miracle on 34th Street and Breakfast at Tiffany's (see photos below), feature both types of trench I love, one for rainy weather and one for cold weather!

Camel trench, a silk scarf and beautiful hat? Swoon. With cooler temps upon us I am definitely obsessing over the thicker wool style trench coats. I have tried my best to stay away from J. Crew's website since I basically spent everything I made this summer there (don't want to talk about it..) but today I decided to go take a look and I immediately feel in love with this beauty...

I mean, come on! The deep color, the structure, the details, the belt? Ah, I am falling head over heels. The Icon also comes in classic camel and rich navy, but my heart is melting over this unexpected yet completely perfect burgundy. I generally dislike this color because I had to wear it as a school uniform for years and years, but this coat is making me change my mind.

I love the thought of updating a classic silhouette with a color that is very popular this season. What do y'all think about trench coats? Do you have one already or are you looking to purchase one like me? Let me know what you think!

White After Labor Day

If you're like me you've heard this "rule" pretty much your entire life. After Labor Day you put your white and seersucker away until Easter Sunday. That's just how it is here in the South (and everywhere else too I'm assuming?). But lately, especially on Twitter and the Blogosphere, I have seen many people proudly breaking this rule, calling it outdated and silly. Personally I follow the no white rule, however I don't have white shoes or pants anyway so it may be easier for me, but I digress.

Come on TSwift...
Then there is the issue of "Winter White". Where does this fit into the no white rule? The difference in "Winter White" and "Summer White" to me would be different shades of the same essential color. Winter Whites are much more cream based than stark Summer Whites. My favorite Southern Blogger, Rules For Belles, is very specific about this difference and is one of the main champions for the no white rule that I know.

In honor of this hot button topic I thought I would share some good "Winter White" options to hold us over until next April :)

I am obsessed with these creamy ensembles! What are y'alls' thoughts on the no white rule? Do you follow it religiously or rebel against it? I can't wait to hear what you think!
